Don Gallardo

Bio

Don Gallardo was raised in a small town in Northern California, where he spent years building his songwriting career on the west coast before relocating to Nashville in 2007. Now based in Nashville, Tennessee, he walks the line between folk, Americana and roots-rock, mining the influence of classic 1970s singer-songwriters while creating a sound that nods to the past while still pushing ahead toward something new.

With four full-length albums, a live acoustic release, and an EP under his belt, Gallardo has earned a broad audience on both sides of the Atlantic. A road warrior who frequently tours the U.K., he’s also earned high marks from outlets like Rolling Stone (who calls Gallardo a singer-songwriter that is one of country and Americana’s true journeyman), AmericanaUK, and The Nashville Scene, the latter of which described his music as “country-rock with brains, charm and experimental impulses that are perfectly integrated into a familiar context.” No Depression offered similar praise, calling Gallardo a “rare gem” whose work is “highly recommended to fans of great songwriters.”

Released in 2015 by the U.K.-based indie label Clubhouse Records, Gallardo’s newest album, Hickory, received a four-star rating from MOJO Magazine and was mentioned in Rolling Stone. The project paired Gallardo with producer David Pinkston (Linda Ronstadt, Marshall Tucker Band) and a handful of A-list sidemen, including Mickey Raphael (Willie Nelson), Rob Ickes (Merle Haggard), Randall Bramblett (Bonnie Raitt), Guthrie Trapp (Alison Krauss) Micah Hulscher (Emmylou Harris) and Brad Pemberton (Ryan Adams). Inspired by everything from Gallardo’s California upbringing to his time in the American Bible Belt, Hickory was named one of 2015’s best country albums by The Telegraph, proof that Gallardo’s career has truly gone global.

Hickory will be released in the US and Worldwide on July 22, 2016 with a Pre-sale date of July 8th, 2016 on Southern Carousel Records. The US and Worldwide digital version contains two Bonus Tracks that were recorded during the Hickory sessions.

In addition to catching one of his live shows, fans can hear Gallardo’s music prominently featured in films like “Jolene” and Jackass Presents “Bad Grandpa,” as well as the television series “The Vampire Diaries” and ABC’s “Nashville.”
